The Hunger Games Trilogy 3 Book Set

People reviews

I enjoyed reading this SO much! I thought that the characters, who we have learnt to love in the previous books, developed new layers to their personality - Peeta in particular! A lot of other reviews have suggested that Katniss is unlikable and that she becomes weak and 'whiney', but I found her one of the most relatable characters BECAUSE of her flaws. Her reactions to the trauma that she suffers makes this one of the most gut-wrenching books I've read.

I think that the source of a lot of disappointment for the other more negative reviews is that this story has a non-conventional ending. I think the ending may have alienated a lot of people as it's not a stereotypically 'happy ending' but, personally, I found this a fantastic thing! With other series of books I've read, notably Harry Potter, although I loved them, I found myself asking just how much of a happy ending there could be for the main characters when so many bad things have happened in their lives. I loved the bittersweet ending of Mockingjay, where we see a world still affected by the traumatic events of the past.

I think that in comparison to a lot of (dare I use the phrase) 'Young adult' fiction that shows a dull love triangle, this book shows that no matter what happens, there is always hope and I found this to be a refreshing message. This book won't be everyone's cup of tea but I would encourage everyone to read this book - but maybe ask them to forget about the conventional ending that they were probably expecting.

There are flaws in this book, don't get me wrong, but I would challenge anyone to find a perfect book. For me, I review a book depending on whether I felt anything for the characters and whether I would read it again. By those criteria, it deserves every one of those 5 stars.

Watched all the films recently and really enjoyed them, so bought the books and as always they are better, but I was really, really nicely surprised as the films followed the books very well, better than most. I actually prefer to watch a film first and read the book after as the book will always fill in where the film misses and I enjoy the book better as I am not dashing to get to the end

the first book in the hunger games trilogy is about katniss (the main character ) volunteering to enter the hunger games to save her little sister prim from entering herself. she gets to know peeta the boy with the bread and she
develops relationship with him which is part of the ma
in structure of the storys.
the second book is about over rising the capitol (the head city encharge of evryone) along with the quarter quell which marks the 25th hunger gamed and they hold a hunger game but with a twist.
the third book is more sinister i wont reveal any more just in case you do end up reading it.
i would recomend it to people 10+ depending on your reading standard . any fan of harry potter would enjoy this book so please read it :)

These books were well packaged and bought as a present for my teenage son who was delighted with them. Even though he has seen the films he is enjoying these books immensely. Great price. Thanks

A reviews states this a Teenage version of The Running Man, I couldn't agree more with that sentence.
I won't say about the story as its already been said, but I just couldn't put this book down, I was gripped from the reaping ceremony to the end. Katniss is a survivor and it shows throughout the book, her thoughts and feelings are so vivid you actually are there with her. She is a nice caring girl with a heart of gold she lets few see.
The further you get from the beginning of this book the more it picks up speed...and takes you on a roller coaster ride towards the end...
A Superb & well written new series that will be a keeper for any age 13 and up.
This author has had a lot to do shows on Nickelodeon and wrote Gregor the Overlander, a five-part series called The Underland Chronicles. But I feel this is her best yet, I'm an adult and I'm hooked.
I hunger for more & I certainly cant wait for book 2.
