The Girl Who Lied: A gripping psychological drama that will keep you turning the page! Kindle Edition

(I can assure any prospective reader that once you start, you won't be able to put this book down. The setting is described beautifully, transporting us to a seaside village in Ireland where Sue's insightful characterisation sucks you in and very soon, you are immersed in everyones lives, past and present. This a carefully interwoven tale of lost love and secrets, maternal devotion and the intricacies of family bonds and friendship, twists and turns. I believe that the mark of a good book is the feeling of sadness one has at the end, the realisation it's over and time to say goodbye to the characters you've connected with during each turn of the page, and this is one of them. I'm looking forward to Sue's next book, whatever it may be, but until then, huge congratulations for a job so very well done.)

(This was a great easy read which drew me in right from the start. So many intriguing secrets, and the main one is slowly revealed as I became more and more involved with the character. There's a real sense of family running throughout. Erin has not had an easy childhood and ran away from home, but when her father is injured she has to come back. She tries to keep the past safely hidden but Roisin is determined that she is going to pay. Roisin is horrible. I know she has suffered loss and difficulties resulting from that loss, but she really is bitter about it all. Such a contrast to the other lovely characters in the story - with the exception of Erin's English tosser of a boyfriend. Ugh, give me a sexy Irishman over that pompous t**t any day! Shame he doesn't fall into the Irish sea!
It’s the realistic ordinariness of this story that makes it so suspenseful.
Erin has secrets, she is not anxious to confront, until an email and a phone call make running no longer an option. Told from multi point of views, Erin’s and third person for the other players in the story, you find out some of their secrets but not all. Like a perfect murder mystery everyone looks guilty and has a motive but there still a few pieces of the puzzle annoyingly elusive.
A strong romantic thread runs through this story in Erin’s past and present. She travels a complex emotional journey when she returns home and realises that life is all about shade and light rather than being clear cut and defined. Erin emotional growth is a feature of this story and makes her a character worth rooting for.
This is a poignant tale outlining the power of family ties and the frailty of humans, when faced with life changing events. The female family bond is well written and integral to the story, which ties all the ends up nicely with a realistic and hopeful outcome.)

Sue Fortin writes with skill and pace, filling her pages with tension. With great characters and a gripping storyline, I was immediately pulled in and found myself desperate to turn the pages' – Amanda Jennings
