Fire TV Stick best reviews

(To give this review some context, I'm now in my 15th month of being a Fire TV Stick user and I still use it every day. I've also had the original "full sized" Fire TV since the day of release. They both have different strengths and weaknesses. I hope this review will help you choose.

What is it?
========
The Fire TV Stick is simply a streaming device. It connects to internet video services like Amazon Video or Netflix using your home WiFi, and sends the video your TV like any other video source (for example, it has replaced my need for a BluRay player).

What do you need to make it work?
==========================
Your TV must have an HDMI port. It doesn’t need to be a smart TV. You can even use a computer monitor if it has speakers and an HDMI port that supports HD Content Protection. Pretty much every TV made since 2003 will have this, but many monitors do not.

You need a decent WiFi signal in the location you intend to use the TV. It’s essential to have a decent internet connection (at least 3 Mbps for standard-definition, double that for HD), and preferably an unlimited data package (otherwise, video streaming will burn through your data allowance in no time)

I bought this as an electronic babysitter, for my husband, who is five. Oh, wait, not five, 48. I was pig-sick of him watching Netflix on his mobile phone, with his netbook pinging up Facebook messages, with the TV on full blast, and the sound from his Netflix leaking out of his earphones, because he had that on full volume as well, to counter-balance whatever was happening on the TV he wasn't watching. It has worked a treat, as he now watches endless hours of crap on the big TV, while his netbook and phone ping Facebook messages at him, and he lies on the couch, re-arranging his crotch, and grunting.

The installation was easy, despite the fact that I only have full use of one hand, I didn't need any screwdrivers, and I'm not allowed hammers anyway. I did stand on an apple that the dog had taken behind the TV, for dog-reasons, and it squidged between my toes a bit, but I don't suppose that's a universal installation issue, not everyone having a dog that hides fruit behind the TV.

The plug-and-play nature of the device meant that I was able to install without asking for help from a man, and I didn't even break any fingernails. I'm relatively certain I've deleted any links to my social media from Amazon, so the husband won't be able to ferret about, at two in the morning, while he's watching something with boobs in, or yet another concert from the time period when I was being potty-trained, and see all of the nasty things I say about him.

The Amazon Fire TV Stick is a streaming media device to rival Google’s Chromecast and the Roku Streaming Stick. In it’s basic form, it allows you to stream Full HD content from the likes of Amazon Prime Instant Video, BBC iPlayer, ITV Player and Netflix. You can also play music from online services like spotify or YouTube. If you’re already got something like a Chromecast and you’re thinking you don’t need one of these, don’t be put off just yet, keep reading as you can do a lot more with this if you’re fairly technically competent.

It's simply brilliant! Unless you have a 4K TV which has particular specs compatible with the bigger brother of this (the Fire TV with 4K Ultra HD) then this is the streaming device you need in order to watch all sorts of content direct from the internet. It is amazing what such a very small device can do. You need to have wifi and to get the best from it you also need to be an Amazon Prime member then you can watch all sorts of movies etc for no extra cost.
